The Abuser's Playbook(s)
A downloadable game
What is the Abuser's Playbook(s)?
Because of the culture of silence around abuse, people are often unaware of the fact that there are many types of non-family, non-romantic, and non-sexual abuse that people commonly experience. And because the only stories we tell about abuse are stories of abusive parents, sexual abusers, and abusive romantic partners, this makes it difficult for people experiencing abuse outside of one of this situations to realize that what they are experiencing is still abuse.
Which is why I’ve created The Abuser’s Playbook(s).
The Abuser’s Playbook(s) is an educational resource designed to use the language of PBTA moves (rules for the Powered By The Apocalypse system) and character archetypes to teach people about the “mechanics” of abuse.
The Abuser’s Playbook(s) is not designed to be an exhaustive guide to all of the different types of abuse that exist. Nor does it discuss all possible forms of abuse. There were many other “playbooks” I could have written, but I chose to focus on abuser archetypes that are common but don’t often get talked about as being abusive.
All donations will go to an anti-cyber harassment charity
The Abuser's Playbook(s) was written and released for Family Violence Prevention Month. Donations raised through downloads of this game will be given to Cybersmile.org - a nonprofit organization committed to digital wellbeing and tackling all forms of bullying and abuse online.
